This drawing, along with the set of preparatory drawing for the rest of the prints in this series, formed part of the Carderera Collection and was subsequently acquired by the Prado Museum where it is currently housed.
Goya executed this preparatory drawing in the same way as that produced for the previous print, no. 58, It is no use shouting (No hay que dar voces). The focus is on the central section of the composition, which is depicted in detail and maintained with few changes in the final print. However, the background in the drawing is blurry and ambiguous: it even seems like the scene might be taking place in an enclosed space whose background is populated by the silhouettes of various figures. All these background details are omitted from the print, perhaps with the aim of concentrating the viewer's attention on the central figures in the scene.
