Historia
See Sad forebodings of what is to come.
This drawing, like the set of preparatory drawings for the rest of the engravings in the series, was part of the Carderera collection and subsequently passed to the Prado National Museum, where it is now kept.
Análisis artístico
In the centre of this preparatory drawing for engraving no. 76, The Carnivorous Vulture, we can see a large bird with its wings spread and partially mutilated. Compared to the print, this figure is larger and closer to the viewer. Goya has not made substantial changes to the figures in the background who are chasing the animal, although their faces are more clearly defined in the print.
