Análisis artístico
For a complete history of the bandit and an artistic analysis of the whole series, see El Maragato Threatens Friar Pedro de Zaldivia with his Gun.
The cycle dedicated to the capture of El Maragato ends with the image of Friar Pedro tying the bandit up, who has fallen to the floor after being shot. The source text tells us that Providence placed the rope there. Far in the distance, the figures which also featured in the first panel arrive, carrying sticks and ready to give the villain a beating. At this point in the story, Friar Pedro resumed his role as a religious man, preventing the beating and ensuring that the criminal was sheltered in the shade until he was taken to Madrid to be executed.
