Historia
See Sad presentiments of what must come to pass.
This drawing, along with the set of preparatory drawing for the rest of the prints in this series, formed part of the Carderera Collection and was subsequently acquired by the Prado Museum where it is currently housed.
Análisis artístico
The preparatory drawing for the print Unhappy mother! (Madre infeliz!) is extremely precise and well-executed. There are no differences between the drawing and the print, except that the artist has used aquatint to create a notably darker background and floor area in the final piece.
