Historia
This drawing belonged to Javier Goya, to Mariano Goya, and to the Carderera collection before finally arriving at the Prado Museum.
Análisis artístico
This sketch, most likely made before the preparatory drawing, was executed using quick, loose lines. In it we see the figure of a woman, her right arm extended. Also sketched out here is the wheel of the cannon, arranged with its side to the viewer, just like in the preparatory drawing and the etching. Underneath the woman's feet we can make out some traces of other shapes, though it is impossible to confirm whether or not these are the corpses on which she is shown standing in both the preparatory drawing and the print.
