This drawing, like the set of preparatory drawings for the rest of the engravings in the series, was part of the Carderera collection and subsequently passed to the Prado Museum, where it is now kept.
Engraving no. 64, Carts to the Cemetery, is the last print Goya devoted to the subject of the famine that shook the country, especially between 1811 and 1812. This print is very faithful to the work done by the Aragonese painter in his preparatory drawing. It slightly modifies the pose of the figure in the background, which in the drawing is slightly tilted to one side, and strongly emphasises the architectural structure of the background, which is only sketched in the drawing.
