Historia
This work was acquired in 1909 by Electra Havemeyer (New York), with the mediation of Ricardo de Madrazo, from Antonio Mazarredo Allendesalazar.
Análisis artístico
This is a portrait of Juana Mazarredo y Moyúa, daughter of Admiral José de Mazarredo y Gortázar and Antonia de Moyúa, as a child.
It is a half-profile portrait, with the subject shown standing straight before the viewer, against a neutral background. She is wearing an elegant dress featuring a layered neckline, half-length sleeves decorated with bows and a belt, which she is holding on to with her left hand.
Today's critics are divided between attributing the work to Goya or to Agustín Esteve, just as with the portrait of Antonio de Moyúa.
