Análisis artístico

Manuela Camas was the wife of Ceán Bermúdez, known as "La aragonesa" ("The woman from Aragón").

In the portrait she is seated, wearing a dress in green, white and blue tones with a showy bow tied at the bust and frills on the sleeves. She is also wearing a powdered wig decorated with a bonnet embellished with decorative flowers, ribbons and feathers. She has a red velvet sewing box and holds a needle delicately in her right hand. On the little finger of her left hand she wears a cameo trimmed with gold. The delicate elegance of this painting makes it one of the most typically rococo style portraits painted by Goya. The pleasant face looking directly at the viewer demonstrates the esteem Goya had for the wife of one of his best friends.

According to Guidol, this portrait provided Goya with the objects he needed to satisfy his passion for depicting light, form, and materials.
