Historia

This miniature belonged to Luis Portilla. He put it up for sale in Madrid, together with others that were in his possession, on 16 February 1880. It was acquired by Count Gregorio Stroganoff. Its current whereabouts are unknown.
Análisis artístico
For the artistic and technical analysis of the complete series, see Maja and Celestina.
The image depicts three inebriated drinkers. In the foreground we see the bust portrait of a fat-faced man holding an overflowing glass of wine. He is covered by a large white apron, tied around his neck. Over his right shoulder, uncomfortably close, appear the faces of two other men, also drinking from glasses of wine.
