In the print, an elderly man in a jacket and breeches swings while two figures (demons?) stalk him in the background.

The protagonist has a caricatured, smiling face reminiscent of those in the Black Paintings of the Quinta del Sordo.

Goya made several drawings that are considered preparatory, included in Album H: Young Man Flying on a Rope and Old Man Swinging), which are very similar to the engraving.

Sayre relates it to the Caprice Who Would Believe It! as it depicts two figures suspended in the air fighting while a figure reminiscent of a demon appears in the background. He also believes that Lumley may have made modifications to the old man's magna while the plate was in his possession.

On the reverse of the plate is another very similar engraving, Old Woman Swinging, the authorship of which is in doubt.
