Análisis artístico

On the right of the composition a monstrous figure, as if it were a demon, drags a man tied by the feet with a rope. The whiteness and repose of his body are reminiscent of piety and contrast with the chaos of diabolical beings, monsters, animals and demented faces that surround him, depicted in grey, forming a sombre and confused background.

This is the drawing that served as the basis for the lithograph Infernal Scene in the National Library, Madrid). In both cases, the figures move from left to right towards an area of light that could represent an abyss or the underworld. The scenes have a nightmarish aura that pervades much of Goya's work and suggest a connection with his Black Paintings. It is also similar to the drawing The Road to Hell.
