See Young woman with forehead wearing a small hat.
A scene depicting a painful departure or departure from a journey. A woman with a sorrowful face holds her hands to her head as she watches a carriage drive away, of which only part of the rear wheel is visible, as the rest of the carriage is outside the frame of the drawing. Beside her, a little girl clings to the woman, raising her little arms, also sadly.
The spokes of the wheel are blurred to show the movement, as are the gentle waves that represent the air that rises as the wheel passes.
On the back of the sheet is the drawing Women seated on the promenade.
