See Young woman with forehead wearing a small hat.
Of the drawings that Valentín Carderera owned from Album A, which are not preserved today or are on an unknown wall, three are known indirectly through copies, perhaps made by Carderera himself, which have been catalogued as "copy a", "copy b" and "copy c". Copies "b" and "c" come successively from Valentín Carderera, Eduardo Carderera Ponzán (1880) and Mª Pilar Carderera (widow of Eduardo Carderera, 1922). The Prado Museum acquired them from the heirs of the latter (Luis, Fernando and Alfonso Carderera Carderera) in 1963. Copy c" ( Prado Museum, D4160, 200 x 107 mm) includes the inscription: Goya / del 1er libro de Goya con la de Alba (in pencil; below).
See Young woman with forehead wearing a small hat.
Woman falls backwards while being picked up by an army officer. The subject is identified with that of the original drawing thus described by Carderera, referring to the Duchess of Alba: the fainting Duchess is being held by a general officer.
