Still Life with Fruit (Bodegón con frutas)
Fruit, Bread and a Barrel of Olives (Fruta, roscones y barril de aceitunas)
Goya (written vertically on the label on the middle bottle).
For more information, see Pieces of Lamb.
Still Life with Fruit currently belongs to the Oskar Reinhart Foundation.
On top of a table laid with a white tablecloth and in front of a neutral background we see three bottles of wine and a small barrel, a basket of fruit containing grapes, pears and figs, and some pieces of bread, cheese and sliced meat.
This is the only work in this series of still lifes which does not depict dead animals. It is also the most conventional of the paintings and the closest to a traditional still life. It is a richer work than the others in terms of its colours, and transmits a certain sense of optimism, largely thanks to its increased luminosity.
For more information, see Pieces of Lamb.
