This work belonged to the collection of Edward Habich, in Cassel. It was put on sale in Stuttgart between 27 and 28 April 1899. Its current location is unknown.

In this bust portrait we see the profile of an elderly man, with white beard and hair, balding on top. The man is holding what appears to be a hat, with which he is begging. The sorrowful expression on his face betrays his suffering and the awful state he finds himself in.
