The Smoker (El fumador)
Historia
See Maja and Celestina.
This miniature belonged to Luis Portilla. He put it up for sale in Madrid, together with others that were in his possession, on 16 December 1880. It was acquired by Count Gregorio Stroganoff. Its current whereabouts are unknown.
Análisis artístico
For the artistic and technical analysis of the complete series, see Maja and Celestina.
A man, with his arms folded and his body tilted forward as if he were leaning on something - a table or a railing, perhaps - holds a cigar between his lips. On his face we can see a satisfied expression.
